LISBON – A man was seriously injured Tuesday night and two others are charged with assaulting him with a brick and a bat, Lisbon police Sgt. Scott Stewart said.
The 42-year-old victim was in the intensive care unit at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston on Wednesday night, he said. Police did not release his identity.
Charged with aggravated assault are Toby Johnston, 30, of Lisbon and Gerald Norman, 29, of Lisbon Falls, the investigator said.
Stewart said police received a call around 10 p.m. Tuesday that a man was down with head injuries after being hit with a bat and/or brick at Sabattus Creek Trailer Park. Witnesses described the assailants and told police one was carrying a brick and the other a bat.
Police obtained a search warrant and recovered a bat and a brick at the home of Johnston, then arrested him and Norman, Stewart said.
Norman was booked at Lisbon Police Department and released on bail. Johnston was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn, booked and released on bail.
The investigation is continuing, Stewart said Wednesday night.
