AUBURN – An Auburn man’s car struck a utility pole after he fell asleep behind the wheel last week.
Brady Blackman, 19, fell asleep while driving near his home on Dillingham Hill Road around 3:30 p.m. June 30, according to the report filed by the Auburn Police Department.
Blackman was traveling north on Dillingham Hill Road when he “fell asleep and failed to negotiate a slight right-hand turn.”
His car crossed the roadway and struck a Verizon pole, “causing the pole to crack.”
The impact of the crash “bounced the car back around so that it was facing south,” according to the report.
Blackman was not reportedly injured. Damage to his 2008 Volkswagen was estimated at $6,000 and the car was towed.
