LEWISTON – A local man was stabbed during a fight Monday night at Kennedy Park, but he won’t talk to police about the attack.
Police said a fight in the park involving more than 20 people was reported at 7:43 p.m. Most ran when police approached.
Officers questioned a man who was taken to the police station.
At the same time, personnel from Central Maine Medical Center notified police that a man arrived at the emergency room with a stab wound to the chest.
Description didn’t match
The man at the station denied stabbing the victim or knowing anything about it and didn’t match a description of the suspect given by witnesses.
Police said the victim’s injury was minor and he was released from the hospital later that night.
The 28-year-old victim, who was known to police, said he didn’t want to press charges or give police any statements.
Police declined to name the victim and said they are continuing to investigate.
