The Sea Sunday services are part of this year’s annual celebration of National Maritime Day in Maine. “This is a very important day for those who have lost loved ones who served in the Merchant Marine and fishing industry,” said the Very Rev. Lester York, OSBN, dean of the cathedral.

In addition, a U.S. Navy Flag and submarine model will be presented to the cathedral to remember “those still on patrol” as a permanent memorial to submariners lost in the line of duty.

The Rural Maine Child Care Scholarship will be available at all seven of Maine’s community colleges beginning in the fall. Scholarship awards will range from $35 to $100 a week based on need. Students can attend college full time, part time or take a single course at a main campus or at one of the community colleges’ nine off-campus centers.
