Photography workshop

FARMINGDALE – The Capital Area Camera Club of Augusta is sponsoring an all-day spring photography workshop from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Hall-Dale High School. There will be 24 beginners to intermediate level presentations and a two-hour guided photography walk in Vaughn Woods. Registration received by Saturday, May 24, is $30, lunch included. Registration after that is $40, lunch not included.

The camera club meets at 7 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month from September through May at the Harlow Gallery in Hallowell. Membership includes beginners and professional photographers. Anyone with an interest in photography is welcome.

Cancer conference

AUGUSTA – More than 400 attendees gathered May 7 at the Augusta Civic Center for the 30th anniversary of the Living With Cancer Conference. This year’s theme, “Celebrating 30 Years of Information and SupportHope for the Future,” provided participants with information on personal and medical topics to assist in bringing hope and care to cancer patients and their families.

Conference attendees participated in a variety of workshops, visited community resource exhibits, shared similar experiences and stories, and listened to a wide range of presenters, including keynote speaker Dr. Carolyn Kaelin, the founding director of the Comprehensive Breast Health Center at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
