Ellie Shapiro, 3, shops at the doll boutique during the Mother/Daughter Doll Tea at the Woman’s Literary Union in Auburn on Saturday. The tea, which featured local storyteller Dorothy Gatchell, attracted dozens of little girls dressed in their Sunday best holding their dolls. The girls, some wearing “fairy rings” on their heads, came with their mothers, aunts and grandmothers to enjoy dainty cakes and tea on fine China. The popular annual event raises money to help the union maintain the historic Horatio G. Foss Mansion on Elm Street. Shapiro, of North Yarmouth, came to the tea with her mother, Lindy, and grandmother, Barbara, of Auburn.
