AUBURN – A former manager at a Main Street Dunkin’ Donuts shop is charged with stealing money from the store and trying to pay it back with a bad check.

Linda L. Roberts, 51, of 1 Farm View Lane, South Paris, was indicted by an Androscoggin County grand jury this month. A May 1 arraignment is scheduled.

The grand jury charged Roberts with theft by unauthorized taking and negotiating a worthless instrument. Both are Class B felonies, each punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Authorities said Roberts took more than $10,000 by keeping money she was supposed to deposit at a bank. They say she then wrote a check for $32,467 in an effort to repay the money, knowing it wouldn’t be paid by the bank.

She has since been fired from Dunkin’ Donuts.
