Program on owls
HALLOWELL – The Capitol Area Camera Club will host a meeting on “The Great Horned Owl,” presented by Sally Butcher at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the Harlow Gallery, 160 Water St.
“Better Photo Presentation,” creating a photo gallery Web site for free, 10 common mistakes in photography and other fun stuff will be presented by Dawna Leavitt.

Attic discovery
AUGUSTA – Old Fort Western’s 2008 Winter Lecture Series will get under way with a program, “Behind the Knee Walls: Examining and Interpreting Recent Attic Finds,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, in the learning gallery, city hall, 16 Cony St.
Fort Information Coordinator Patti Violette will display and discuss artifacts she and former staff member, Rae Murphy, recently found behind the knee walls in the north attic in the fort’s 1754 main house.

Winter camp
FALMOUTH – Maine Audubon offers students a February vacation camp full of outdoor fun and learning.
Open to children in grades one to five, the camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, Feb. 19 to 22, at Gilsland Farm Audubon Center.

Stamp contest
WELLS – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge, is sponsoring the 13th annual Maine competition of the Junior Duck Stamp contest for grades kindergarten to 12.
The contest challenges students to create designs featuring ducks, geese or swans in their natural habitats. Designs are judged in four age categories, with awards for first, second and third places and honorable mentions.
The Best of Show will be entered in the National Junior Duck Stamp Competition. Entries must be postmarked by March 15.
