Vivian Mancine of Turner looks at pictures of those who died during a National Children’s Memorial Day candlelight vigil at St. Philip’s Church in Auburn on Sunday. Mancine lit a candle in honor of her granddaughter, Kristen French, who died in a car accident on July 27, 1999, at the age of 21. The Lewiston Chapter of Compassionate Friends gather for the annual worldwide ceremony on the second Sunday of each December. The support group assists families after the death of a child. They meet on the second Wednesday of each month at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston.
