LISBON – For the second time in less than two years, residents turned down a $1,355,000 bond issue to construct and equip a public works building. The vote was 960-668.

Both the town council and the Budget Advisory Board recommended the project be approved.

A nonbinding question asking voters if they would support combining the current two polling locations, Ward 1 Lisbon and Ward 2 Lisbon Falls, into a single location at the Lisbon Community School on Mill Street in Lisbon Center met with strong opposition. The vote was 1,086 to 555.

Unopposed incumbents re-elected were Councilors Fernand Larochelle in the at large seat with 1,352 votes, Gina Mason in District 1 with 560 votes, and Dale Crafts in District 2 with 756 votes.

School Committee member Traci Austin had 1,175 votes.

Results for five other positions, three for Budget Advisory Board, one for School Committee and one for water commissioner will be filled by write-in votes. Those results will not be available until today, Town Clerk Twila Lycette said.

A total of 1,646 of 6,500 registered voters turned out Tuesday.
