LISBON – A $1,355,000 bond issue to build a town garage will again go before voters in a referendum Nov. 6.

It was turned down once, however, town officials feel that their efforts over the past few months to make residents aware of the inadequacies of the outdated, overcrowded facility will result in a positive vote this time.

The Town Council and the budget advisory board are recommending a yes vote. If approved, plans call for demolishing the old garage and constructing and equipping a facility together with office space.

A second referendum is a nonbinding vote asking residents if they support combining the Ward 1 polling station at the town office in Lisbon and Ward 2 station in the MTM Community Center in Lisbon Falls for all federal, state and local elections beginning in June 2008.

The Nov. 6 polling hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Ward 1 voters from Lisbon and Lisbon Center will cast ballots at the town office; Ward 2 voters from Lisbon Falls at the MTM Community Center.
