LEWISTON – Staff and volunteers from the Lewiston Root Cellar will serve free hamburgers, hot dogs, cotton candy and drinks from 3 to 5 p.m. today in Pierce Street Park.

The park is directly behind the Root Cellar’s 89 Birch St. facility, which is under renovation to be a community outreach center.

Modeled after the Portland Root Cellar’s popular park outreach, the event will also feature games and activities for children.

The event is an opportunity for Root Cellar volunteers to meet neighbors, build friendships and break down cultural barriers.
