BRUNSWICK – Students at Brunswick High School were dismissed Friday morning in response to a bomb threat against the school and its homecoming activities, police said.

Students were released at 11:40 a.m. Some were transported home by bus. Students with cars were held while their cars were examined for explosives.

Bomb-sniffing dogs were brought from Brunswick Naval Air Station and the Maine State Police.

All homecoming activities were postponed.

Friday night’s football game between Brunswick and Edward Little High School was postponed to Monday night, according to an EL spokesperson.

Meanwhile, students walked to the downtown. One Brunswick parent complained that the buses, eager to leave the threatened school, left many students behind.

An investigation of the threat was under way. Police declined to describe how the threat was delivered.
