TURNER – A Saco man escaped serious injury Sunday night after falling asleep at the wheel on Route 4.
According to Androscoggin County Deputy Jon Guay, Logan Waterhouse, 24, of 60 Cumberland Ave. was traveling toward Auburn around 8:30 p.m. when he dozed off.
“He was about a mile north of Harlow Hill Road when he went across the oncoming lane of traffic, narrowly missing an oncoming car,” Guay said.
Waterhouse’s 1991 Chevrolet pickup truck just missed a utility pole before going off the road and traveling another 200 feet, Guay said.
Guay said Waterhouse was taken to Central Maine Medical Center with a possible head injury and neck and back pain.
“He was wearing a seat belt, and it’s a good thing he was because it could have been a lot worse,” Guay said.
