LOVELL – A young girl injured in the plane crash on Kezar Lake late Saturday morning has been discharged from Maine Medical Center.

According to a nurse supervisor at the Portland hospital, Lauren Lamberson was released Sunday.

Lauren, 5, her brother Kyle, 3, and her parents Kevin, 37, and Beth Lamberson, 41, were passengers in pilot Joseph Solari’s single-engine Cessna float plane when it crashed Saturday, according to WCSH-TV’s Web site.

Solari, a former Fryeburg selectman and the longtime manager of Eastern Slopes Regional Airport in Fryeburg, was killed in the crash.

According to Warden Service spokesman Mark Latti, the crash occurred when Solari was attempting to land on a narrow section of Kezar lake just north of Middle Bay.

“The plane had retractable landing gear – wheels – in its pontoons. When he was landing on the lake, his landing gear was still down, and when he landed, the wheels caught the water and the plane somersaulted and flipped upside down,” Latti said Saturday.

According to Latti, the Lambersons and their son were able to unstrap themselves from the upside down plane and swim to the surface.

“But the couple’s daughter was still strapped in her seat, and the fuselage was totally underwater,” Latti said. “Her mother dove back under and unstrapped her and brought her to the surface.”

Lauren and another family member were airlifted to Maine Medical Center. The remaining two passengers were taken to Bridgton Hospital.

The Associated Press reported that the float plane has been removed from Kezar Lake and is awaiting inspection by the National Transportation Safety Board.

Latti said the NTSB, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate the fatal crash.
