AUBURN – With a month left to collect signatures, more candidates for Auburn office are tossing their hats in the ring.

Four candidates have taken out nomination petitions for the two open at-large City Council, including incumbent Bob Mennealy. Potential opponents include Ron Potvin of 82 Northern Ave., Robert Sevigny of 86 Sixth St., and David Burke of 38 Harmons Corner Road.

Potvin and Burke have also taken out paperwork for other City Council seats. Potvin is circulating a petition for the Ward 1 City Council seat being vacated by Dick Gleason. Burke is also circulating a petition for the Ward 5 seat, possibly challenging incumbent Ray Berube.

Ward 2’s Robert Hayes, Ward 3’s Eric Samson and Ward 4’s Bruce Bickford are also circulating petitions for their seats.

No challengers have emerged yet to challenge incumbent Mayor John Jenkins. Jenkins received his petition from the city clerk’s office Friday afternoon.

City Clerk Mary Lou Magno said no candidates have turned in their petitions. They have until Aug. 23 to collect and submit signatures for their nomination petitions.
