LEWISTON – A trio of area men were arrested in Lewiston on Tuesday charged in connection with unrelated sex assaults, some dating back to 2000, others as recent as February.
Andre Bertland Wilson, 23, of 3 Grant St., Auburn, was charged with one count of gross sexual assault and one count of unlawful sexual touching.
Investigators said that on Feb. 2 in Lewiston, Wilson forced an 18-year-old Lewiston woman to engage in sex acts with him.
Police who investigated the reported rape presented their findings earlier this month to an Androscoggin County grand jury, which handed up indictments against Wilson. Warrants were issued and he was arrested Tuesday afternoon.
Also Tuesday afternoon, police found Raymond J. Fields Jr., 35, of 97 Newbury St., Auburn, and arrested him on eight counts of sexually abusing two girls for nearly five years.
Fields also was indicted by a grand jury in June. He was charged with sexually assaulting and abusing a girl under the age of 14 on several occasions between December 2000 and October 2002.
Fields is also accused in the indictment of sexually assaulting another girl under the age of 14 in October 2000. According to the indictment, he continued to sexually abuse the same girl until March 2005.
Fields was indicted and arrested on three counts of gross sexual assault, three counts of unlawful sexual contact and one count of sexual misconduct with a child.
A third man arrested by Lewiston police on Tuesday was indicted on charges of gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual touching.
Investigators said that on Feb. 22, Tory A. Hutchinson, 18, of 50 Felker Road, Poland, engaged in sex acts with a girl under the age of 12 in Lewiston and subjected her to other forms of sexual contact.
Each of the suspects remained in the Androscoggin County Jail on Wednesday.
