LEWISTON – Twelve individuals and organizations, recipients of the first Harward Center for Community Partnership Awards grants, will be recognized in a celebration at 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 7, in the Edmund S. Muskie Archives, 70 Campus Ave., Bates College.
The public is invited to attend at no cost; light refreshments will be served.
Firmly rooted in the academic purpose of the college, the Harward Center serves as a focal point for connected learning that fuses academic discussion and community. In union with this mission, award recipients connect Bates with the larger community through collaboration, research and service.
These individuals and organizations will be honored:
• Jim Carignan, Bates class of 1961, recipient of the 2007 James and Sally Carignan Award for Career Achievement;
• Michael Wilson, Bates class of 2007, recipient of the 2007 Harward Center Award for Outstanding Community-Based Academic Work;
• Sara Gips, Bates class of 2007, recipient of Harward Center Faculty Award for Outstanding Community Volunteerism and Student Leadership;
• Assistant Professor Alexandre Dauge-Roth, recipient of the 2007 Harward Center Faculty Award for Outstanding New Community Partnership Initiative;
• Professor of Psychology Georgia Nigro, recipient of the 2007 Harward Center Faculty Award for Sustained Commitment to Community Partnership;
• Bates College Dining Services, recipient of the 2007 Harward Center Staff Award for Outstanding Support for Community Partnership;
• Leigh Campbell, Bates class of 1964, recipient of the 2007 Harward Center Staff Award for Community Volunteerism and Leadership;
• College for ME-Androscoggin, recipient of the 2007 Harward Center Community Partner Award for Outstanding New Initiative;
• Carla Harris, recipient of the 2007 Harward Center Community Partner Award for Sustained Commitment to Partnership;
• Museum L/A, recipient of the 2007 Harward Center Award for Outstanding Community Project/Partnership;
• Kirsten Walter, Bates class of 2002, recipient of the 2007 Bates – Morse Mountain Award for Environmental Stewardship;
• Judy Marden, Bates class of 1966, recipient of the 2007 Bates-Morse Mountain Award for Environmental Lifetime Achievement.
