LEWISTON – The search for a Masonic time capsule rumored to be placed near the ground floor of the old Kora Building will continue Friday.
“It was an old Masonic building, and typically those buildings have a cornerstone that contains some things of historical consequence to Masons,” said Code Enforcement Officer Gil Arsenault.
The cornerstone is likely on the ground floor of the building and was covered in bricks and construction debris Thursday.
“As the rest of the cleanup continues, we expect the search to go on,” Arsenault said.
Representatives from the Kora Temple at 111 Sabattus St. were not available for comment Thursday, but Arsenault said they’d expressed some interest in collecting whatever was left in the cornerstone.
The Kora building was built between 1870 and 1895, according to city records.
