Dear Sun Spots: Rural Community Action Ministry in Leeds desperately needs volunteer drivers to take clients to doctor’s appointments, to get groceries, do banking, pick up medications or any other basic needs for elderly and disabled in our area.

We serve a rural population in 13 towns in Androscoggin, Kennebec and Oxford counties.

Please consider giving just two hours a day, or a week to help an elderly neighbor keep his or her independence. A neighbor’s independence depends on you. Please call Susan Gill, Volunteer Coordinator at RCAM (207) 524-5095. – Susan Gill, Leeds.

Dear Sun Spots: Last December, my husband and I received a nice gift certificate to Louis Landing restaurant. We just found out that they are closed for good. I don’t know who to get in touch with about this. Would you or any of your readers know how we can get this certificate honored? Thank you. – Sandra Ahlberg, No Town.

Answer: As noted in a July column, please address your concerns to Louis Landing Restaurant, Inc., 96 Sabattus Road, Sabattus, ME, 04280.

Dear Sun Spots: I recently sent in a request to any of your readers to see if anyone might have a rug cleaner that they would like to sell at a reasonable price. The day the letter came out, I received nine phone calls stating the parties had one to sell. The first two were very promising, and I made arrangements to see them. I purchased one at a great price. When the others called, I advised them I had purchased one and thanked them for calling.

Thank you so much for your column and the success people have had because of it. – E.B., No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: This is such a great column for getting help. I’m amazed at the information I get from reading Sun Spots.

I recently read that some readers were looking for needhams in Maine. The recipes you passed on looked good. In case people don’t have time to make their own I wanted to pass on that Lorraine’s Sweets is still making the original Maine needhams out of her home and they can be ordered by calling Lorraine at 784-3859. They’re also sold, individually wrapped, at several small corner stores and convenience stores in Lewiston and Auburn. The following stores carry them: 7-Eleven, Victor News, Lisbon Street News, Corner Variety, Bourque’s markets, Mega Store on Sabattus Street, Mobil on Lisbon Street, Roy’s Foodland, Lake Street Variety, Court Street Deli, Russell Street Variety, Getty on Lisbon Street, Simones Variety, Gowells, Poirier’s, Cafe Bon Bon, Stephen’s Pizza, Mr Paperback and Wallingford’s.

Hope this helps. – Lorraine Fontaine, Lewiston.
