LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Tax Credit Awareness Coalition is providing an opportunity for nonprofit agencies/area businesses to learn more about the Earned Income Tax Credit and possible benefits to both their employees and their clients.
In addition, Dollar Wi$e financial education/asset-building opportunities will also be discussed.
Mayor Lionel C. Guay Jr. signed on to the Dollar Wi$e campaign last month in affiliation with financial education efforts by The United States Conference of Mayors.
As such, the coalition will host an EITC/Dollar Wi$e informational session at 10:30 a.m. on Monday. The session will be held at Lewiston City Hall, 27 Pine St. in the Council Chambers (1st floor).
The EITC is a federal benefit for low and moderate income workers, and 2006 wages could render a tax credit ranging from $412 to $4,536. The EITC benefit is in addition to other tax benefits for which an individual/family may be eligibl.
Nonprofit agency representatives and members of the business community who believe their employees and/or clients may benefit from the federal tax credit and financial education/asset-building opportunities may RSVP for the Sept. 25th session by calling Dottie Perham-Whittier at 784-2951, X110, TTY/TDD: 784-5999, or via [email protected].
