* Must be at least 18 years old
* Ground school course
* Flight Instructor Airplane test
* Fundamentals of Instructing test, 50 multiple course questions
* Flight training and role-playing
* Practical exam
* Flight tests supervised by FAA examiner or inspector
Types of licenses:
CFI: instructor certificate, allows teaching in aircraft in visual flight conditions
CFII: Instrument Instructor, allows teaching instrument flying
MEI, MEII: Multi Instructor, allows teaching in multi-engine craft
Typically, an instructor license takes eight to 10 weeks of work to obtain.
