TURNER – An Augusta man was hospitalized Wednesday a night after his motorcycle crashed into the side of a pickup truck on North Parish Road.

Police said 33-year-old Ross Boucher may have been run over by the pickup after he drove into the side of it about 2:15 p.m. He was flown to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston where he was listed in serious condition Wednesday night.

Maine State Police Trooper Mike Chavez, who was investigating the crash, said Boucher was riding with two other bikers when the group drove up behind a truck that was also heading north on North Parish Road.

Inside the Chevrolet pickup, George Dewitt, 63, of Lewiston, slowed to make a left turn into a driveway. Boucher tried to swerve around the truck but instead struck the side of it with his 2004 Yamaha, Chavez said.

Boucher may have been run over by the truck after falling in front of it, police said. Chavez said Boucher was in and out of consciousness when police and emergency crews arrived.

Later, “He was conscious and alert and he was complaining of pain on his right side,” Chavez said. “He was having trouble breathing. His injuries were substantial.”

One of Boucher’s friends, also from Augusta, suffered scrapes and bruises when he lost control of his Buell in the crash and dumped it at the side of the road, Chavez said. That man did not require hospital treatment.

The collision remained under investigation Wednesday night.
