Martel Elementary School sixth-grader Ashley Ferrence
shows her disappointment Thursday after her egg was broken on the final drop off the top of the Lewiston school during its annual Eggstravaganza Egg Drop. More than 70 fourth- and sixth-graders at Martel Elementary School in Lewiston participated. Students wrapped their raw eggs in whatever they felt would survive a drop from a ladder in the gym and then again from first- and second-floor windows. After the final drop off the roof by Lewiston Detective Ron Dumont, 21 creations survived. Those students received an A for the project. Russ Dillingham/Sun Journal
