AUGUSTA – Maine Wing, Civil Air Patrol, has kicked off the first-ever raffle to raise funds for its cadet programs in Maine. Through an arrangement with Robin Cummings at Central Maine Harley-Davidson, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle painted in Air Force colors will be raffled off to one winner.
The winner will have the choice of taking delivery of the Harley or receive $18,500 in cash. The winner will be contacted following the drawing in September. Tickets are available from any Civil Air Patrol member in the state. Cost is $20 a ticket, and all of the funds raised, after expenses, will be used in the cadet programs.
Cadet programs include aerospace education, emergency services, disaster relief, search and rescue, airman academy, honor guard academy, encampment and international air cadet exchange. In addition, cadets are given orientation flights in the fleet of CAP-owned aircraft. Through the Civil Air Patrol program, cadets have the opportunity to receive scholarships for college and awards.
Tickets can be purchased from Maine Wing Headquarters by calling 626-7830 or contacting the local squadron.
