Could you please get the recipe for the whoopie pies? Thanks for a great Sun Spots column every day. – No Name, No Town.

Answer: Kim Beaudin, Cook of the Week, says she has had several people write to her looking for the recipe. She hopes Sun Spots column readers enjoy this recipe and says her family has loved the recipe for years. She is happy to share it with you and other readers. Enjoy!

Mrs. Record’s whoopie pies. Ingredients: 6 tablespoons Crisco, 1 cup sugar, 1 egg, 1 cup milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla, ½ teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon salt, 2 cups sifted flour, 5 tablespoons cocoa. Filling ingredients: ¾ cup Crisco, ¾ cup powdered sugar, 6 tablespoons marshmallow fluff, 1 teaspoon vanilla. Method: Put all filling ingredients into medium-size bowl, mix with an electric mixer until smooth. Taste to decided if you need to add more sugar or vanilla.
