LITCHFIELD – School officials may hire a new elementary and middle school principal Wednesday, ending their search two months earlier than expected.
If hired, the new principal would start at Libby-Tozier and Carrie Ricker Middle schools before the new school year begins.
The schools lost their principal when she resigned in June to become principal of Tripp Middle School in Turner. The assistant principal had planned to take over for her temporarily, but she resigned in July to move north.
The Principal Search Panel thought it would take months to fill the position. The school system planned to be without a principal until October.
But after receiving 13 applications and conducting four interviews, the panel recently narrowed its search to a single finalist: Aurelie Bush, Lisbon Community School’s former assistant principal. They liked her warmth and her communication and organizational skills.
She could start immediately.
The School Committee had planned to meet Wednesday to discuss options for a possible interim principal. Now members will interview Bush in a closed-door meeting and vote in a public session on whether to hire her.
The meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Carrie Ricker Middle School. People can talk with Bush before and after the meeting.
