AUGUSTA (AP) – An autopsy is planned on a woman found dead Saturday in a car on Front Street.

Police say they are treating the death as suspicious. Lt. Jeffrey Pomerleau said the woman had yet to be identified Saturday night. The body was found in a dark, two-door compact car around 1:30 p.m. The car was parked under a building that overhangs Front Street.

A worker at a Water Street business said the car had been parked there since at least 7 a.m. Saturday.

Ultralight plane crashes, kills pilot

NEW LONDON, N.H. (AP) – A small plane crashed into a golf course Saturday afternoon, killing the pilot.

The single-engine plane crashed on the 16th fairway at the Lake Sunapee Country Club after taking off from the nearby Eagle’s Nest airstrip. The aircraft was described as an experimental ultralight plane. Witnesses said the plane lost airspeed just before crashing nose first into the ground.

New London fire officials said they found the 79-year-old pilot, an experienced flier, dead at the scene. His identity was not immediately released.
