LEWISTON – The Kora Shriners will host free medical screening clinics on Saturday, May 14, at 13 locations throughout southern and central Maine to identify children who may benefit from the medical care Shriners Hospitals for Children provide. The clinic will run from 9 a.m. until noon. Appointments are recommended, but not required.

There is never a charge to the patient, parent or any third party for any medical treatment received at Shrine hospitals. They accept and treat children without regard to race, religion or relationship to a Shriner.

Any child may be eligible for treatment if the child is under 18 and if, in the opinion of the hospital’s chief of staff, the child has an orthopedic or burn condition that the hospital can help.

For more than 80 years, Shriners Hospitals for Children have provided free medical care to approximately 735,000 children with orthopedic problems, severe burns and spinal cord injuries. Founded in 1922 and supported by more than 450,000 members of the international Shrine fraternity, the network of pediatric specialty hospitals is located across the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

For more information on the clinics, call Kora Shrine at 1-800-782-KORA or visit www.korashriners.org/screen_clinics.htm.
