BANGOR – The Garden Club Federation of Maine will sponsor a garden study class May 13 and 14 at the Penobscot County Cooperative Extension Office, 307 Maine Ave.
The intention of the classes is to assist members of Maine garden clubs to gain expertise in a wide range of gardening practices and techniques; however, the classes are open to the general public also.

Paddle for camp
AUGUSTA – Maine kayakers and canoeists of all skill levels will Paddle for Pine Tree Camp on Saturday and Sunday, June 4 and 5. The event will take to waterways throughout Maine in support of Pine Tree Camp, a summer camp for Maine children and adults with disabilities.
There will be statewide locations featuring a post-event celebratory barbecue for all registered participants, prizes, paddle partner teams and pre-event paddling workshops.
Sites will include Kennebec River with Maine Guide Darrell Buzzell, Saco River with SacoBound, Androscoggin River with Sun Valley Sports and Maine Handicapped Skiing, Swan Lake State Park in Belfast and sea kayaking in Brunswick with Seaspray Kayaking.
Kayakers and canoeists raise money for Pine Tree campers by collecting pledges per mile or accepting straight contributions. Sponsors and other corporate contributors donate dollars, products and services.
