Mechanic Falls: Meeting canceled
The School Committee meeting that was scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 8, has been canceled.
Lisbon: Papers available Feb. 18
Four town offices, all for three-year terms, will be up for grabs at the May 14 municipal election: selectman, now held by L. Scott D’Amboise who isn’t seeking re-election; School Committee, now held by Norma Wells; Water Commission, held by James C. Gurney Jr.; and Library Governing Board, held by Orel Ray Medlen.
Nomination papers for people interested in running for office will be available at 8:30 a.m., Feb. 18, and must be returned to the Town Clerk’s office by 4:30 p.m. March 30. For further information, people can call Town Clerk Twila Lycette, 353-3000, ext. 112.

Sabattus: Absentee ballots available
The Sabattus registrar of voters is accepting requests for absentee ballots for the March 4 municipal election. People can contact Robin DuLac at the Town Office or call 375-4331, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Durham: Filing deadline near
Feb. 15 is the deadline to file papers to be a candidate in the April 1 annual election. There are two openings for selectman, two for School Committee and three for Budget Committee. All are three-year terms.
Also, one-year terms are open for road commissioner and tax collector-treasurer; both of those officeholders are seeking re-election.
Selectmen Kirk Asselyn and Mike VanDerWerf, and School Board members Amber Snell and Linda Pfaffinger also are running for re-election. For more information, people can contact Town Clerk Shannon Plourde, 353-2561, ext. 2.

Durham: Strays contract renewed
Selectmen have renewed the town’s contract with Coastal Humane Society in Brunswick to accept stray animals found in Durham at a total cost of $3,888.15 for the coming year, which is $1.15 per capita.
