WISCASSET – The Chewonki Foundation has announced the inauguration of scholarships for the Maine Coast Semester, an academic program for high school juniors.

Scholarships will be awarded to applicants from Maine public schools who demonstrate a consistent history and a promising future of academic excellence, exemplary citizenship and community involvement and a commitment to attending college. One to three scholarships up to $15,000 will be awarded to outstanding applicants for the 2005-2006 school year. Students must submit their application by the deadline of Feb. 1. Award announcements will be sent by mid-April. Recipients of the scholarship may also apply for supplementary financial aid, based on need.
