LEWISTON – Susan Morse is bringing her collections of skulls and skins to Bates College.
A wildlife biologist and the founder of the nonprofit organization called Keeping Track, Morse will present a slide show at the Lewiston college about New England forest mammals.
In addition to the slide presentation, she will display her extensive collection of skulls, skins and other items useful in learning how to track these animals.
The presentation is open to the public and free of charge.
A nationally recognized naturalist and habitat specialist, Morse founded Keeping Track in 1994.
It aims to track and monitor mammal species that are important indicators of habitat quality.
In New England, such species include bears, bobcats, fishers, otters, moose and mink. Morse has focused much of her work on cougars, bobcats, black bears and Canada lynx. She received the Franklin Fairbanks Award in 2001 for her lifelong service to enriching the public’s understanding of New England’s natural world.
