AUBURN – A Taylor Pond sailing trip ended with an Auburn sailor dunked, but safe.
Fire and rescue personnel fished Richard Paul of Auburn from Taylor Pond about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, after his sailboat capsized and he was unable to right it.
“He had it moored at a friend’s house, and the friend was watching him when he went down, luckily,” said Platoon Chief Ray Levesque. “The mast was in the water, and that kept him from getting the boat back up.”
Fire and rescue personnel rescued Paul and brought him back to shore unharmed. Then they went back and worked to bring his boat back to shore.
“He was wet and cold and looking for dry clothes, but he was OK,” Levesque said.
