FARMINGTON – The American Legion Second District Post and Auxiliary will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, at the Roderick-Crosby Post 28. President Edith Lemieux asks her members to bring items that can be sold to raise money for projects to benefit young people.

Farm conference

NEW GLOUCESTER – The Maine Grass Farmers Network Grazing Conference will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Pineland Farms.

Featured speakers will include Sarah Flack and Gwyneth Harris, who have worked with the Vermont Grassfarmers Association. They are known for their grazing and organization expertise. Flack and Harris will give a keynote presentation at 10 a.m. on “What a Grass Farm Is, How Grassfarmers Network and Why Do It!”

The conference is for both experienced and novice livestock producers who want to learn more about grazing and pasture management. Registration is $5 a farm and lunch is available for $10. Military tribute

BANGOR – A military tribute honoring all service members will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at the Spectacular Events Center as part of the State Grange annual convention. The event will commemorate the 60th anniversary of D-Day as well as honoring those who are or have served. For more information, people can call 1-800-639-2408, ext. 121.
