AUBURN – Attorney David C. Pierson is running for one of two available “at large” positions on the Auburn City Council.

A graduate of Bates College, the New School for Social Research in New York and the University of Maine School of Law, Pierson has taken an active role in community affairs, serving in leadership positions with a number of civic and nonprofit organizations.

He is in his second term as president of the Auburn Business Development Corp. and has served for nine years on the Auburn Planning Board.

As president of ABDC, Pierson continues to work with city officials and the private sector to maximize the city’s economic development potential.

“Increasing the tax base is critical to the future of our city,” Pierson said, explaining that well-planned industrial growth can help keep residential property taxes down while providing critical funding for city schools and services.

Pierson is a partner with the Lewiston law firm, Hark-Andrucki. Prior to law school, he was president of Pierson Woodward General Contractors and D.C. Pierson Inc. Construction Managers.

A member of the board of directors of the Good Shepherd Food-Bank and the Lewiston-Auburn Economic Growth Council, Pierson serves as corporation counsel for the Downeast Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors and the Maine Home Builders and Remodelers Association.

Pierson, a resident of Goodrich Avenue, is married to local businesswoman, Brenda Garrand. They have one high school-age son, Charles Pierson.

The Auburn election will take place in November.
