AUBURN – A Bath-based skateboard demonstration team will help launch Auburn’s teen summer reading program.

Skateboard ramps and obstacles will be set up in the School Street parking lot opposite the Auburn City Building. The program runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Librarian Sally Holt said the demonstration will be the first of three programs sponsored by the library.

Monday’s event features door prizes, snacks and a chance to register to win one of two skateboards.

The second program is an outdoor survival seminar sponsored by Eastern Mountain Sports on Monday, July 19. And a pizza party is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 23. Both of those events are scheduled at the library’s temporary home in the Auburn Mall.

Teens who read at least five books, magazines or newspapers over the summer can qualify to win small prizes, such as hacky sacks, gift certificates and key chains. The two skateboards will be given away at the Aug. 23 pizza party.

More information may be obtained by calling Holt at 782-3191, extension 4.
