CASCO – Hancock Lumber Co. will host a workshop for loggers, foresters and landowners from 8 a.m. to noon Friday, July 9, at the Hancock Lumber Conference Center on Route 121.
The workshop, “Beyond the Waterbar,” will introduce the water quality manual developed recently by the Maine Forest Service. The manual, which describes a variety of conservation practices to protect Maine’s waters, also covers topics such as planning a harvest anticipating site conditions, trails, harvesting and hazardous materials.
The manual will serve as a reference guide. Each person attending the workshop will receive a copy. The workshop, led by Chris Martin, water resource specialist for the forest service, will be structured to allow time for questions and discussion.
Registration has been limited to 40. To register, call Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District by July 7 at 753-9400, ext. 400. There is no cost for the program.
