LISBON – Two women were charged with prostitution offenses Tuesday during a police raid at the Asian Acupressure Therapy business at 568 Lisbon St.

Doore Kim, 39, was charged with promotion of prostitution and Yong Sook Lee, 33, was charged with engaging in prostitution, Police Chief David Brooks said.

Two other women at the business, Myoung Sook Um, 46, and Swklee Jeong, 35, were not charged, police said.

All four Koreans spoke little or no English and listed the business address as their home. They were taken into custody by immigration officials, Brooks said, and were expected to be deported.

The business is located in a small mall just beyond Midtown Shopping Center on Route 196 in Lisbon Falls. The business is owned by a Korean man and woman from New York, who were not there Tuesday, police said.

The mall is locally owned and houses Subway of Lisbon Falls and Fast Flight Archery Inc.

The investigation by federal law enforcement officers began last December, Brooks said. Lisbon Detectives Bryan Doyle and Bill Tapley traveled to several southern and central Maine communities last month to interview men caught on surveillance cameras going into the business.

A search warrant obtained by Doyle last week was executed early Tuesday afternoon by Lisbon police accompanied by three federal officers, two immigration officials and one from the U.S. Department of Labor.

When officers entered the building, they found the four Korean women, two of whom were clothed, and five men, Brooks said. One man was held and the others questioned.

As far as could be determined, none of the men recorded on video or at the business Tuesday were from Lisbon, he said.
