AUBURN – A woman suffered minor burns Friday morning when a ball of fire burst from her gas stove.

Fire officials said the woman was trying to light the stove at her 32 Drummond Street home at about 11 a.m. when she was burned.

Investigators said it appeared the woman had turned on the gas and allowed too much to accumulate before trying to light it.

The woman, whose name was not available, was examined and treated for minor burns. Firefighters made sure lingering gas in her home was ventilated.
