AUBURN – The Abused Women’s Advocacy Project’s annual Walk Against Violence will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, inside the Auburn Mall. The community is invited to join supporters.

Rep. Elaine Makas, Rep. Michael Michaud and State Treasurer Dale McCormick plan to attend.

During Saturday’s walk, 21 posters collected from international domestic violence agencies by Anne Marie Bryne will be on display.

Bryne contacted thousands of domestic violence agencies and asked for any printed materials available. She received over 220 posters and donated most of them to AWAP. Bryne will attend the walk and talk about her project to collect the posters.

AWAP will mount and display the posters during future domestic violence awareness events and will make the materials available for loan to institutions or groups wishing to display the project themselves.

“This is a tremendous gift for our community,” said Chris Fenno, executive director of AWAP. “It is an honor to receive them and become the caretakers of this work. I think everyone who sees the posters will be moved by the international effort to stop this crime.”
