BUCKSPORT – The 2004 Northeast Silent Film Festival Aug. 5 to 8 is based on the theme of transformations and silent sex roles.
The festival at the Alamo Theatre, 85 Main St., will have piano accompaniment by Philip Carli of Rochester, N.Y., and Maine composer Paul Sullivan.
The Alamo Theatre is operated by Northeast Historic Film, northern New England’s moving image archives. The Alamo is a 125-seat gem, projecting contemporary movies every weekend as well as regular archival programs, according to the film office. The films shown are top-quality prints from fellow archives including the Library of Congress, the George Eastman House and the Museum of Modern Art.
Films on the festival program include “A Florida Enchantment,” 1914; “Beverly of Graustark,” 1926; “Opportunity,” 1917, starring boxing enthusiast Viola Dana; and “Madame Blanche, Beauty Doctor,” 1915.
