PORTLAND – Brochures and walk forms for anyone interested in participating in the 17th annual Maine Children’s Cancer Program Walk are available.

The program encourages individual walkers and teams to participate and start raising funds as soon as possible. All walkers who raise $25 or more will receive a free T-shirt. This year’s walk will be held Saturday, Sept. 18, at two locations in Androscoggin and Oxford counties and six other locations in central and southern Maine, including Augusta, Biddeford/Saco, Newport/Dexter, Portland, Rockland and Waterville. The goal is to once again raise more than $130,000 from the walks.

Those interested can participate in the Lewiston/Auburn Walk, which will begin and end at Shaw’s Supermarket in Lewiston. People can contact Shari Cloutier at 786-3890. In Oxford County the walk will start and end at the Mexico Town Hall. People can call Sandee Welch at 364-2548.

Preregistration for all walks will begin at 8 a.m. and they will start at 9. Walkers are asked to collect contributions from family, friends, neighbors and/or their companies. Every walker who collects $25 or more will receive a free T-shirt. Walkers will receive breakfast and entertainment from area cheerleaders.

People can walk as a team or individually. For more information and for a registration form, call the Maine Children’s Cancer Program at 871-6274, visit www.mmc.org/mccp or pick up a brochure at all Shaw’s Supermarkets and other locations throughout southern and central Maine.
