Democrats plan Auburn meeting
AUBURN – The Democratic City Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, in the conference room of the Auburn Police Department.
Guest speakers will include Auburn City Clerk Mary Lou Magno, who will speak about absentee voting. Sam Shapiro will speak about the history of the Democratic Party in Maine, and a representative of Tax Cap No will speak. Refreshments will be served.
All Auburn Democrats, as well as members of the general public, are encouraged to attend.
Lewiston GOP schedules meeting
LEWISTON – The Republican City Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the county Republican headquarters at 159 Lisbon St.
All Lewiston Republican candidates are urged to attend. The focus will be on legislative races and other political activities. Lewiston Republicans are welcome to attend.
Democrats to hear tax-cap foe
LEWISTON – The Androscoggin County Democratic Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, at the Lewiston Multi-Purpose Center on Birch Street.
There will be a speaker from Citizens United to Protect Our Public Safety, Schools and Communities, which is an anti-tax-cap group. All Democrats are invited to attend.
State awards repairs contract
BRUNSWICK – The Maine Department of Transportation has awarded a bid of $539,150 to Reed and Reed of Woolwich for a road-repair project on I-295 in Brunswick and Gardiner.
The work will include concrete slab replacement, expansion joints and pothole repair. The northbound project area begins 1.87 miles south of the Topsham town line and extends north 6.94 miles. The southbound work area begins about 1 mile north of the Richmond town line and extends south 7.29 miles.
