AUBURN – A witness for the defense will have to take a day off from college and spend it in court if Lewiston Mayor Lionel Guay’s sex- abuse case goes to trial.
Androscoggin County Superior Court Justice Ellen Gorman told Moneca Landry on Thursday that she needs to be available to testify.
Landry said she planned to attend college starting today and had no car to get back and forth to Lewiston during the trial.
Gorman assured her she would only need to appear one day or, at most, a day and a half. The entire trial could go considerably longer.
She told Landry to notify prosecutors and Guay’s defense lawyer who her lawyer is so he can get word to her when she needs to be in court.
Landry said she had perfect attendance in high school.
Guay could go to trial later this month. He is charged with three counts of sexual touching and one count of assault against a teenage girl who once worked for his accounting business.
