There are no named candidates on the ballot for a three-year term on the school board, but Adam Schenck has announced he will run as a write-in candidate. Schenck has lived in Turner with his wife and two sons for almost three years.
“We wanted our children to live in a good and safe environment that had excellent schools, and after a lot of research we decided on Turner,” he said.
Schenck was a practicing lawyer in New York City before moving to Turner and deciding to be the primary care provider for his sons. His youngest begins school in the fall, at which time he will return to practice, he said.
He decided to seek the school board position because he believes in “excellence and efficiency in education.”
“We have an obligation to not hold kids back. All children need attention,” he said. “We need to maximize their potential while making the most efficient use of the money available.”
Schenck is on the board of the Lewiston Toy Library and is a member of the Friends of Lewiston Library. He lives near Howes Corner.
