The destination of the Stanton Bird Club’s field trip on Saturday, March 13, will be determined by those spring-like temperatures that have teased the area for the past week.
If ice on the rivers has broken up sufficiently, the trip will first head to the boat landing in Richmond and then move on to Dresden, looking for eagles of the Eastern River. Also featured is a stop at a farm overlooking the river and an active eagle nest. The trip ends with lunch in Richmond.
If the rivers are still iced over, the trip will be to Reid State Park. Purple sandpipers, mergansers, long-tailed ducks and scoters are regular visitors here.
The group will meet at the J.C. Penney parking lot in the Auburn Mall and will depart at 8:05 sharp. The trip is open to all and there is no charge. For more information or to check which trip is scheduled, phone trip leaders Bonnie and Lew Soper at 966-3494, or Dan Marquis at 784-8397.
