LEWISTON — Steven L. Green, 72, of Jay, formerly of Turner, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, following a brief stay.

He was born Jan. 5, 1946, in Livermore, the son of Alden E. Green and Barbara (Langlin) Green. He attended school at Leavitt Institute in Turner. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.

On Feb. 15, 1966, in Jay, he married Pamela White. Steve worked for Maine Department of Transportation as a diesel mechanic; he later started his own business in diesel repairs and was well-known in the area for his knowledge and skill. Steve was a member of the Phillip S. Bryant American Legion Post 111 in Turner, AMVETS Post 33 and Frank L. Mitchell VFW Post 3335, both in Jay.

He enjoyed traveling, and especially spending time with his family and following his grandchildren’s events. He was very involved and supportive with Green-Hiscock Racing and enjoyed watching his grandson Tyler drive No. 26.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pamela Green, of Jay; his children, Shelley Green and fiance Matt Hiscock, of Turner, Ryan Green and his wife, Edith, of Rumford; seven grandchildren: Tyler Green and his wife, Nikki, Jordan Green, Madison “Maddie” Green, Keegan Drayton, Brian Hiscock and Trevor and Joseph Moore; three great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Brielle and Beckett; siblings: Gary “Skip” Green and wife Glenice, Valerie Green, Charles “Billy” Green and wife Darlene, Janice “Toddy” Kilbreth and husband William and Alvin “Happy” Green and wife Juanita, all of Turner; his uncle, Bernard “Butch” Langlin, and his wife, Jane, of Livermore; his beloved and faithful companion, “Max;” many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, Alden and Barbara Green; mother- and father-in-law, Kenneth and Barbara White; brothers Bert Green and Alden “Wank” Green; and nephews Eric Green and Bo Green.

Funeral service with full military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Finley Funeral Home, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls. Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
