AUBURN – Water quality issues will be the topic of a Taylor Pond Association barbecue Tuesday.
Members of the association, which serves neighbors of the pond, are hoping to bring city officials, including city councilors, planning and zoning board members and city staff, together with water quality professionals.
The event will focus on efforts to protect water quality in Taylor Pond as a way of preserving habitat and property values. It’s scheduled to begin with a 5:30 p.m. barbecue at the Taylor Pond Yacht Club, off Perkins Ridge Road. The event also includes boat tours of the pond and presentations by environmental educators.
Presenters include Jodi Castallo, coordinator of Maine Nonpoint Education for Municipal Officials, and Phoebe Hardesty, of the Androscoggin Valley Soil & Water Conservation District and David Ladd of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.
