Edward Little High School
During the week of Feb. 9 Edward Little held it’s annual Winter Carnival. The Winter Carnival is a week of events and theme days for students capped off with a day without classes on Friday, February 13th. The week long carnival, organized by the school administration and student council, is considered by many students to be a pleasant diversion from the regular schedule.
During the week, each day had a theme, such as beach day, during which students came to school in beachwear, and classes competed to see which grade had the most students in their beach clothes. Other theme days included, movie star day, during which students dressed as their favorite stars, school color day, and get to know your teachers day, when students were given interesting facts about their teachers, and had to match up each fact with a teacher at E.L.
The highlight of the week for most students was the friday without classes, the school offered many activities that the students could participate in, either in, or out of school. Students could stay at E.L. and participate in over 35 activities set up in different locations around the school. These included activities such as board games, movies, karaoke, a Madden football tournament, mitten knitting, and a jam session, as well as many others. The school also made it possible for student to leave campus and either skate at Ingersol arena, or ski at Lost Valley for a far below normal price.
Many students enjoyed the carnival, it made the usually long week before a vacation short and tolerable for most, and was welcomed distraction from the normal school day.We students at E.L. thank the student council and school administration for this week long event, and hope we can enjoy it in future years.
